  • 1 can 21 oz / 595 g cherry pie filling
  • 1 box 15.25 oz / 432 g yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup 115 g unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional) For extra flavor, optional
  • Nonstick cooking spray For greasing the slow cooker
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving, optional) For serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lightly coat the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  • Spread the cherry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the slow cooker. If you like a little spice, sprinkle ground cinnamon over the filling.
  • Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the top of the fruit layer—do not stir.
  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, ensuring most dry spots are moistened; small dry patches are okay.

Cooking

  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until the top is golden and the edges are slightly crisp.

Serving

  • Spoon the warm dessert into bowls and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

To store leftovers, let the dessert cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave before serving.
